Glen Powell’s underrated sports comedy is officially back in action. The complete second season arrived on Hulu today, September 3, dropping all of its new episodes at once for an easy binge.
Chad Powers Season 2 brings Powell right back into heavy facial prosthetics as a disgraced quarterback trying to salvage his career. It picks up directly after the first season’s messy cliffhanger.
Co-created by Powell and Michael Waldron, Chad Powers’ entire premise draws inspiration from Eli Manning’s viral 2022 ESPN sketch, where the former Giants quarterback showed up to Penn State’s walk-on tryouts in disguise.
Powell took that funny, one-off internet video and turned it into a full half-hour comedy show about second chances, sports culture, and double lives.
How Season 1 introduced Glen Powell’s football character
Season 1 set the stage by introducing Russ Holliday, a talented college football star whose arrogant attitude and embarrassing on-field meltdown completely ruined his career. Unwilling to walk away from the sport, Russ decides on an absurd fix.
He puts on a fake nose, a bushy mustache, and a blond wig to reinvent himself as ‘Chad Powers.’ Using that new persona, he successfully lands a walk-on spot with the struggling South Georgia Catfish football program.
The debut season delivered plenty of laughs as Russ constantly scrambled to keep his secret from his coaches and teammates, but it ended with his disguise finally falling apart. Season 2 dives into that fallout, and it forces him to navigate the backlash after his truth comes out.
The returning cast includes Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, and Steve Zahn, with Eli and Peyton Manning both serving as executive producers. All episodes of Season 2 are now streaming on Hulu.
