Sean “Diddy” Combs apparently will be released from prison earlier than expected. The former rapper was sentenced to 50 months in prison following his incarceration in 2025. Most recently, Netflix released the documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which explored the controversies surrounding the artist.
TMZ has reported that “Diddy” Combs will now be released from prison on February 5, 2028. The information comes from the Bureau of Prisons. Diddy’s time in prison hasn’t gone without controversies either. The rapper was reported to have ended up in solitary confinement after a fight with a fellow inmate. He is currently incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Diddy’s prison sentence has seen multiple release date revisions
Due to several sentence adjustments, the 56-year-old rapper’s prison sentence has been revised multiple times. Initially, Combs was supposed to be released in June 2028, but it was revised after factoring in his time served at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn before his trial. After that, his release date was moved up to April 2028 after the Federal Bureau of Prisons factored in his earned time through good conduct credits and participation in prison programs under the reform frameworks.
The release window was further adjusted and moved between several dates in early 2028. The rapper was arrested in late 2024, with him pleading not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Following a highly publicized trial, he was acquitted of said charges. However, he was sentenced to prison after being convicted of two counts of transportation for prostitution. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a $500,000 fine.
At the time of writing, his latest release date is set for February 5, 2028.
