Tulsa King is set to undergo a major change for Season 5. The crime drama starring Sylvester Stallone has had a successful run so far.
Created by Taylor Sheridan, the series also stars Jay Will, Martin Starr, Garrett Hedlund, Dana Delany, Annabella Sciorra, McKenna Quigley Harrington, and others in key roles. It follows Dwight (Stallone), an American Mafia caporegime who is exiled to Tulsa by his associates upon his release after a 25-year-long prison sentence.
What is the update on Tulsa King Season 5?
The major update for Tulsa King Season 5 is that a writers’ room is now open, and the makers plan to shift production to New York. The series has largely been shot in Atlanta, and speculation about a potential move has been circulating since Season 4 wrapped production. The move, per Variety, stems from both budgetary and storyline requirements.
On the budget front, New York under Gov. Kathy Hochul has twice increased its film tax incentive program, now totaling $800 million annually. The state is actively competing with expanded incentives in New Jersey and other states. It also offers a 30% rebate, matching Georgia’s credit, while also going up to 40% for companies investing at least $100 million.

From a creative standpoint, Dwight Manfredi originally hails from New York before being exiled to Tulsa. While Season 4’s trajectory remains under wraps, a move to New York makes narrative sense given Dwight’s consistent friction with his erstwhile crime family. The move could indicate the future of the series, hinting at the possibility of his returning to settle old scores.
However, there has been no official announcement about Tulsa King being renewed for a fifth season yet. But, given its popularity, it’s highly likely that another season is in the pipes.
A premiere date for Tulsa King Season 4 is yet to be announced.
