Euphoria Season 3 Kills off Huge Character Before Finale: ‘That’s a Cool Way To Go’

Euphoria Season 3 just killed off one of its biggest characters in the most brutal way possible. The penultimate episode delivers a shocking death that completely reshapes the finale.

Jacob Elordi’s Nate dies in Euphoria Season 3 Episode 7

Euphoria Season 3’s penultimate episode delivers a major character death that changes everything going forward. Specifically, Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, dies from a rattlesnake bite after loan sharks bury him alive. As a result, the shocking twist completely reshapes the season heading into next week’s highly anticipated finale.

Earlier in the episode, Naz and his crew kidnap Nate over a $1 million debt he owes them from his failed business ventures. They then bury him in a shallow grave beneath a construction site with only a small vent connecting him to the surface. Shortly after, the group also kidnaps Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, and gives her just 72 hours to gather the ransom.

In response, Cassie desperately turns to Maddy, played by Alexa Demie, for help raising the funds in time. Maddy consequently approaches Alamo, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who arrives at the drop site and shoots Naz dead. Unfortunately, a rattlesnake had already crawled through the vent and bitten Nate before anyone could save him.

Elordi reflected on his character’s fate in a behind-the-scenes video after the episode aired. “Nate is someone who’s made so many mistakes and made so many dark choices,” he said. He called it “a cool way to go” and described being part of the show as “amazing.” Editor Julio Perez also discussed the burial scene, saying the team wanted to “highlight the claustrophobia” and put the audience in that confined space.

Production used a boa constrictor with a fake rattle for the coffin scenes alongside Elordi. The real rattlesnake used for the vent shots was nicknamed little b—- by the crew. The episode also reveals Ali’s backstory through a flashback featuring Natasha Lyonne as a fellow addict. Meanwhile, Rue’s attempt to rob Wayne’s safe completely backfires when Faye screams to wake the house.

The official Euphoria account on X marked the moment, posting, “Did you know that I loved you?”

The season finale streams on HBO Max next Sunday, May 31, 2026.
