Noah Wyle Didn’t Believe His ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Title at First

Noah Wyle of “The Pitt” initially couldn’t believe he had been named the “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2026. The recognition comes from PEOPLE magazine, celebrating him with its most prestigious annual honor. Now 55, the actor first won over audiences in the 1990s with his youthful portrayal of Dr. John Carter on the legendary medical series “ER.”

Noah Wyle reveals his wife convinced him to accept ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title

According to PEOPLE, Noah Wyle was initially hesitant to accept its “Sexiest Man Alive” honor. It was his wife, Sara Wells, who ultimately persuaded him to embrace it.

In his cover story for the “Sexiest Man Alive 2026” issue, the “Falling Skies” actor told the magazine, “I thought that sounded like a prank. Just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me.”

Speaking about his partner’s part in the decision, Wyle shared, “She’s the reason I accepted because she was very pleased that this reflects well on her taste. She thinks I’m a good guy and that the kind of person that I am and the kind of father I am, the kind of husband I am is worth promoting. I thought, ‘Okay, if you say so.’”

The father of three further revealed that Wells found his “Sexiest Man Alive” title highly entertaining. His older children, on the other hand, had a much more profound response. He said that his son jokingly called the title a hassle that would bring more critics, but was still proud. His older daughter, meanwhile, was in disbelief and will likely tease him about it for years.

For those unversed, the “ER” star has two children, 24-year-old Owen and 21-year-old Auden, from his previous marriage to Tracy Warbin. He also has an 11-year-old daughter, Frances, with his wife Sara Wells, whom he married in 2014.

Noah Wyle follows 2025 titleholder Jonathan Bailey, with the honor coming amid a remarkable career revival. He now leads and directs HBO’s acclaimed medical drama “The Pitt.” The role has earned him consecutive Emmy wins for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2025 and 2026.
