Prince William Fears Prince Harry Could Turn Their Talks Into Content — Expert

Prince William reportedly remains wary of reconciliation with Prince Harry despite his brother’s public appeal for peace this week. Royal expert Hugo Vickers argued that Harry’s record on discretion could create a serious trust problem if private talks later became public.

Meanwhile, Harry said he wanted the family rift resolved and called reconciliation “the most important thing.” Vickers, however, suggested William had reasons to remain cautious.

Prince Harry’s trust issues makes Prince William wary of reconciliation talks, per expert

According to The Sun, William reportedly opposes reconciliation for now. Vickers described the relationship as “very damaged” following Harry’s interviews and his memoir “Spare.” He said, “I can think of many reasons why Prince William would not wish to reconcile.” However, Vickers argued any repair must happen “privately.” Both brothers would also need to be “prepared to somehow meet in the middle.” He added, “I don’t think Prince William will.” For context, “Spare” was published globally on January 10, 2023.

More specifically, Vickers believed trust remained a major obstacle between Prince William and Prince Harry. “I don’t think he’s [Harry] got a very good reputation for discretion and trust,” he said. Therefore, Vickers feared anything discussed privately “could end up being publicised either directly or indirectly.” He called that possibility “counterproductive.” Later, the expert repeated that Harry’s reputation for keeping things “secret and private is not very good.” Vickers concluded, “Yes, I think Prince William would be right to be worried.” Still, those comments represented his assessment, not confirmation of William’s private thinking.

However, Prince Harry offered a different message during GQ’s “One More Question,” released October 20. Asked about his family relationships, the Duke said, “I want it to work out.” He also said, “Of course I do.” Harry then described reconciliation as “the most important thing” amid the continuing feud. Later, he encouraged “letting go of the past” where possible. The Duke said there was already “enough drama in the world” without continuing family conflicts. Still, no private reconciliation meeting with William had been announced.
