‘White Morgan Freeman’: The Rock’s Lizard Music Transformation Has Fans Doing Double Takes

The Rock‘s dramatic transformation in Lizard Music is taking social media by storm. The actor’s dedication to his upcoming role has sparked a wave of fan reactions.

Fans have gotten their first look at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in his upcoming film Lizard Music. The photos show the Moana star nearly unrecognizable in character alongside his young co-star Theo Clark Leber.

Fans quickly took to social media to react to the transformation. One fan on X, @b00tysauce, joked that the intricate makeup and prosthetics were making The Rock look like “a white Morgan Freeman.”

Fans can’t get over how unrecognizable The Rock looks

Morgan Freeman isn’t the only actor fans say Johnson resembles in Lizard Music. @ASIANWITCHER on X said, “Bro looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger.”

Meanwhile, @movie_goose noted the remarkable makeup that went into achieving the unrecognizable ensemble. “Imagine walking past The Rock on the street and not even realising it’s him. That transformation is genuinely impressive,” they penned on X. @IlDudeEntertain drew a comparison to Tom Cruise’s recent disappointing feature Digger, saying, “This is what I was expecting with Digger after all the hype.”

Johnson previously revealed that the transformation for Lizard Music requires “five hours of makeup every day.” Speaking with Deadline in August, the actor shared that Academy Award-winning prosthetic makeup artist Kazu Hiro made the transformation possible. The Rock had also collaborated with Hiro on The Smashing Machine.

Directed by Benny Safdie, Lizard Music is an upcoming fantasy adventure film based on Daniel Pinkwater’s book of the same name. The story follows a boy who discovers a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing music, leading him to an eccentric man known as the Chicken Man.

In addition to Johnson, the movie also stars Theo Clark Leber, Tim Heidecker, Alicia Silverstone, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, and more.
