George Clooney’s Cult Classic Horror Movie Is Now Available to Stream for Free

Classic horror movie fans can now watch George Clooney‘s near-four-decade-old film for free. Directed by John De Bello, the film is part of a cult parody franchise and was released in 1988.

Return of the Killer Tomatoes, starring George Clooney and Anthony Starke, is now available to stream for free on Shout! Studios’ official YouTube channel. The film is a sequel to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, which was released in 1978.

The supporting cast includes John Astin, Michael Villani, Harvey Weber, J. Stephen Peace, and Karen M. Waldron.

What is Return Of The Killer Tomatoes with George Clooney about?

In Return of the Killer Tomatoes, Professor Mortimer Gangreen (John Astin) develops a new strain of violent tomatoes. After unleashing the Tomato War, Gangreen and his assistant Igor, played by Steve Lundquist, come up with another violent attack.

The Professor has got a bigger plan this time as he tries to utilize his tomato army to help an ally, Jim Richardson, escape from prison and make him the President of the United States. Like the original, Return of the Killer Tomatoes uses parody, but it also stands out for its fourth-wall-breaking humor.

At one point, the characters address the audience directly to explain the film’s budget problems. The scene then turns into an extended product-placement sequence as the story continues.

Like its predecessor, the sequel received a mixed response from audiences. Currently, it holds an average 49% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its reception, the film has developed a cult following over the decades.

Return of the Killer Tomatoes had Lowell D. Blank as the producer. The crew featured Costa Dillon as the production designer, alongside editor Stephen F. Andrich, cinematographers Stephen Welch and Victor Lou, and art director Roger C. Ambrose. Neal Fox and Rick Patterson were the composers.
