Denise Richards Swears Off Marriage After Charlie Sheen & Aaron Phypers Splits

Denise Richards has been candid about where she stands on relationships, admitting that she will never marry again, following her divorce from Aaron Phypers. During a recent podcast appearance on “The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show,” she also opened up about what she still hopes for in love following her two divorces.

Richards, 55, spoke with Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg about the end of her marriage to Phypers. When the conversation turned to the future, she was direct. Would she ever marry again? “Absolutely not,” she said, adding, “I don’t want that piece of paper.”

She said the divorce process had shifted her view, saying that she came to see that “to him I was a product.” She went on to describe the relationship as a business arrangement and said, “This was not a marriage.” The pair were together for eight years and married for a little over six.

Richards also called herself “0 for two,” a reference to her two marriages that ended in divorce. She was previously married to actor Charlie Sheen between 2002 and 2006. Still, Richards does not want to close herself off. She wants to “fall in love again” and have a partner, adding that bitterness and coldness are not what she is after.

What she does hope to release is her anger. “I do want to let go of the hatred towards [Phypers],” she said, explaining that she does not think holding on is healthy. She also admitted, “maybe it’s okay that I hate him.” McCarthy Wahlberg shared that it took her about 20 years to forgive her own former partner. Richards responded, “I will never say I forgive him.” Instead, she said, the harder work is forgiving herself.

The 55-year-old actress also joked that a future partner might need to sign an NDA before their first date. Richards said she believes it is illegal to copyright a celebrity’s image without approval, and she disputed claims Phypers had made about owning photos of them. Her divorce from Phypers has not yet been finalized. She said she plans to share more once the proceedings end. “Once my divorce is final, I will,” she said, explaining her desire to help other women.
