Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly determined to keep their royal work separate from the Sussexes’ activities. The Royals biographer Russell Myers says the Prince and Princess of Wales are prioritizing their causes rather than treating Prince Harry and Meghan’s return as a competition.
Royal biographer reveals Prince William and Kate Middleton’s main focus ahead of joint visit
The couple has recently increased their joint public appearances. Their busy schedule also includes preparations for an expected trip to India for the sixth Earthshot Prize awards ceremony in Mumbai. Kensington Palace has yet to officially confirm the visit.
Myers, author of “William & Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story,” told Vanity Fair that the couple’s renewed public partnership was no coincidence. He explained that they had supported each other privately through family health challenges but had missed appearing together publicly.
“Now we are seeing a return to that,” Myers said.
He also noted that the India trip could highlight their diplomatic responsibilities. “The palace and Foreign Office are planning various official engagements while the couple is in India, highlighting the prince and princess’s soft-power roles,” he explained.
According to a source quoted in the report, the couple wants to keep their responsibilities distinct from Harry and Meghan’s activities. The insider said their brief was to concentrate on their work and causes without distractions.
“They are making their presence felt and at a time when it matters,” the source added.
The Prince William news comes as Harry and Meghan prepare for a joint visit to Nottingham. The engagement marks their first joint appearance since returning to the UK in August, according to the supplied report.
The Sussexes plan to visit three charities supporting young people and local communities. Nottingham also holds personal significance for the couple, who received enthusiastic crowds during a visit in December 2017.
However, Myers rejected the idea that the Waleses view the Sussexes as rivals. “They don’t see life as a competition with the Sussexes,” he told Vanity Fair. “The Sussexes are here doing their thing. William and Catherine are doing what’s in front of them and focusing on what they care about.”
