DCU’s Mister Miracle animated series just revealed major behind-the-scenes talent joining the project. A new scoop has surfaced key creative names attached to the show’s direction and character design.
Mister Miracle’s director and more rumored to be revealed
DC Studios’ Mister Miracle animated series now has key creatives attached to the project, according to scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X. “For Mister Miracle, the animated series from DC Studios: Diego Porral is directing the project, while Gigi Cavenago is designing the characters,” the scooper wrote. In a follow-up post, they added, “Isabela Littger is an episodic director, and Andrei Sitari is the character design supervisor.”
DC Studios head James Gunn confirmed the Mister Miracle series back in January 2026. Gunn revealed that the project will be a DCU animated show. The series follows Scott Free, the New God created by Jack Kirby who first appeared in 1971. Free escapes the tyrannical planet Apokolips and becomes Earth’s greatest escape artist. Tom King and Mitch Gerads’ acclaimed 2017 limited series won the 2019 Eisner Award for Best Limited Series.
Meanwhile, Porral brings notable animation experience to the director’s chair for Mister Miracle. Additionally, Cavenago, known for work in comics and visual development, takes on character design duties. Furthermore, Littger and Sitari round out the creative team in episodic direction and design supervision roles respectively. As a result, the project joins a growing slate of DCU animated content under Gunn’s leadership.
Beyond the new hires, the Mister Miracle property has a long history in animation across DC projects. Ioan Gruffudd voiced Scott Free in the DC Animated Universe, while Yuri Lowenthal played the character in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Similarly, Roger Craig Smith took on the role in Justice League Action and later in Lego DC Super-Villains. Andy Daly also voiced the character in a cameo appearance on Harley Quinn.
Nevertheless, DC Studios has not yet announced a release window or episode count for the animated series. Further details about the show’s story direction and voice cast remain under wraps for the time being.
