As per a National Enquirer report, the Oscars slap reportedly changed the couple’s friendships. “Their circle got incredibly small after Will’s Oscar drama,” the source claimed. According to them, “people took sides” afterward. The insider added that “certain friendships simply never recovered.”

For context, Will slapped Chris Rock during the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony. He later won Best Actor for “King Richard” that same night. Meanwhile, the source said each new lawsuit or potential tell-all reinforced their belief that “nobody can be trusted.”

More recently, Jada Pinkett Smith faced a $3 million lawsuit from former Smith associate Bilaal Salaam. Court filings said Salaam alleged Jada threatened him during a 2021 confrontation. Jada denied the allegations and sought dismissal under California’s anti-SLAPP law. Still, the Enquirer source called Salaam “a trusted member of their inner circle” in earlier years. “Now he’s battling Jada in court,” the insider noted. They added, “This is not the first time something like this has happened.” According to the source, these disputes made the pair feel they “can’t trust anyone.”

As a result, Will Smith and Jada allegedly “shut nearly everyone out,” according to the insider. The source said they sometimes discussed socializing, then decided “it’s easier not to bother.” Instead, they reportedly stayed “locked up in their compound alone.”

Additionally, the insider claimed they could “literally go weeks without seeing anyone outside their family.” Their regular contact allegedly centered on relatives and “the people that work for them.” Therefore, the report framed the Oscars slap as an early turning point. Later controversies reportedly reinforced the couple’s increasingly guarded approach to friendships.
