Meghan Markle reportedly believes she can eventually rival Kate Middleton’s public impact after rebuilding her profile in Britain. The Duchess of Sussex has kept a low profile since returning, while Prince Harry handled several public appearances.
A new source claimed she knows Kate has “the advantage” but remains confident about changing public perceptions. Her strategy reportedly involves starting small, choosing welcoming events, and testing which appearances receive the strongest response. The approach follows years of comparisons between the two women.
Meghan Markle knows Kate Middleton’s ‘advantage’ and plans to ‘start small,’ per source
Heat World reported that Prince Harry encouraged Meghan Markle to become more publicly visible. The Duke of Sussex had recently attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards in London. He believed she could receive “a fantastic reception” once she began stepping out more, the source claimed.
The insider said Meghan could generate “the same kind of excitement Kate does.” Moreover, the source stressed, “Make no mistake that is the goal.” Meghan reportedly expected comparisons with Kate Middleton and wanted “just as much of an impact, if not more.”
Meanwhile, the insider said Meghan understood that Kate currently had “the advantage.” Even so, she was “still convinced she can give her a run for her money.” The source pointed to Meghan’s status outside the working royal structure as part of that strategy.
According to them, she could now operate “entirely on her own terms.” That allegedly included deciding “where she goes, who she works with” and which causes she supports. The source believed this freedom could let people “see a very different side of her.”
However, the reported plan was designed to begin cautiously rather than with a major public return. “She plans to start small,” the source said, choosing places where she felt “comfortable and welcomed.” Meghan would then “test the waters” and assess which appearances received the best response.
If something worked, the insider said, “She’ll do more of it.” If it failed, she could “pull back and recalibrate” without creating a larger spectacle. The source described her approach as “playing the long game.” Meanwhile, Harry has reportedly been “cheering her on every step of the way.”
