A source suggests that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have no plans to apologize to Prince William and Kate Middleton. This comes amid earlier claims that an apology was in the cards for the Sussexes as a step toward improving things with the Waleses. The news comes after reports that even King Charles is looking forward to bringing William and Harry together for a 2027 tribute to their late mother, Princess Diana.
Source close to the couple says no apology to William and Kate is planned
A source close to Prince Harry and Markle told PEOPLE that the previous report about them apologizing to William and Middleton is “nonsense.” This clarification came after The Express UK reported that the Sussexes want to express their regrets over the comments made in the 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview.
The source explained, “Harry and Meghan have always known since they decided to return to the UK that they would need to eat humble pie. Their one big regret about leaving the royal family for the US was their interview with Oprah, and Meghan knows her biggest mistake was her claim that a royal family member had discussed Archie’s skin colour.”
The Express source also claimed that Harry was angry with his family at the time and supported Meghan. The source said the couple now recognized that they had gone too far, but PEOPLE has since reported that a source close to them called the apology claim “nonsense.”
The insider further noted that the Sussexes look forward to sitting down with the Waleses and to making efforts to reconcile. “They want to focus on the future and are hoping that will include a reconciliation at some point. They really want a sit-down so they can address what they said, and Meghan will apologise,” they elaborated.
