Léa Seydoux’s Gentle Monster Crime Movie Trailer Turns Her Fresh Start Into a Nightmare

Léa Seydoux finds herself caught up in a nightmare after what seemed like a fresh start in the Gentle Monster trailer. Austrian filmmaker Marie Kreutzer wrote and directed the upcoming crime movie.

According to the official synopsis, “Gentle Monster tells the story of concert pianist Lucy (Léa Seydoux), who has just relocated her family to a country house hoping to ease her husband Philip’s (Laurence Rupp) severe burnout. Before they have a chance to set up their new home, an early morning police visit tears their life apart. Trapped between the man she loves and the fear of what he may have done, Lucy must face the situation alone as her world unravels.”

What happens in the Gentle Monster trailer?

The trailer opens with concert pianist Lucy giving an interview in which she says, “We’re all influenced by love songs performed and written by men. But men rarely talk about their feelings, right? So, I take their words and question them.”

The trailer then cuts to Lucy waking up to find police at her door with a warrant for her husband’s arrest. As a brief piano sequence plays in the background, the trailer flashes glimpses of the life Lucy, her son, and her husband have built together. The mood turns somber as Lucy struggles to process her husband’s arrest. Although she still loves him, she is forced to confront a harsh reality about the man she thought she knew.

The movie features music by French singer-songwriter and composer Camille. Alongside Seydoux, the cast includes Catherine Deneuve, Jella Haase, Laurence Rupp, Sylvester Groth, Katharina Lorenz, Jeanne Werner, and Regina Fritsch.

Johanna Scherz and Alexander Glehr served as producers. Executive producers include Timo Argillander, Kristina Börjeson, Naomi Despres, Fionnuala Jamison, Nathanaël Karmitz, Michèle Marshall, and Andrea Scarso.

Gentle Monster will open in select theaters on October 30, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on November 18.
