Earl Spencer Plays Coy About Prince Harry Diana Film Plans — Report

Earl Spencer was asked about a possible tribute to his late sister at a public event in New York. His reply was short and guarded. When the conversation turned to Prince Harry‘s reported plans for a Diana documentary, Earl Spencer’s answer neither confirmed nor ruled out the project, and he was equally measured about what he knew.

Charles Spencer recently attended an event promoting his memoir “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” where he spoke with journalist Tina Brown. There, he was asked about Prince Harry’s plans for a film tribute to Princess Diana, as reported by HELLO!

Brown raised reports that Harry could make a film tribute to Princess Diana. The prospect was linked to the anniversary of her death in August 2027, according to the outlet. The reported Diana film was not something Spencer chose to elaborate on.

He neither confirmed the project nor suggested he was involved. He replied, “He may well be,” before adding, “I don’t know.” Spencer did say that others had approached him about Diana-related projects. Among them were biographer Andrew Morton and Alastair Campbell, a former Downing Street communications director.

He said he was not taking part in those projects. However, he left the door open to contributing to something he felt would communicate his sister’s message. The anniversary also played a role in the memoir itself. Spencer said he had received numerous requests to join documentaries marking the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death. That, he explained, encouraged him to put his own memories on record.

Above all, Spencer said he does not intrude on his nephews’ decisions but is happy to help when asked. He also declined to share how William and Harry reacted to news of the book, citing their privacy. Describing what he hopes readers will take from it, he called the memoir “a brother’s loving tribute to his sister.”
