Taylor Swift reportedly didn’t want all the spotlight at the 2026 MTV VMAs. According to a source, the global pop star seemingly spent only 15 minutes inside the venue on September 27. She made her entrance at the last minute and mostly made an appearance on stage to receive her three awards. The singer won Video of the Year, Best Direction, and Artist Director Honor.
Taylor Swift ‘didn’t want to distract from the other artists’ by being inside VMAs venue, per source
Taylor Swift’s MTV VMAs appearance at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on Sunday was reportedly limited for a reason. A source told The Sun that she stayed for nearly 15 minutes inside the auditorium. It was said that the award-winner didn’t want to be the center of attention among other A-list artists.
“Taylor’s team insisted she didn’t want to distract from the other artists by being in the room all night,” they said. Therefore, the singer “decided to watch much of the ceremony backstage instead.” Furthermore, the outlet reported that Swift didn’t appear on the red carpet till the last minute. She made her appearance ten minutes before the award show started.
While she reportedly arrived at 4:20 p.m. on the red carpet, she didn’t get inside the main venue until 5:54 p.m. Then, a few minutes later, “The Life of a Showgirl” hitmaker walked on stage to accept the Artist Director Honor. In her acceptance speech, she said, “The main reason why I love writing and directing music videos so much is because you, the fans, make it so much fun. You make it so rewarding.”
During this time, Swift also released the music video for her new single, “Patient Zero,” and then made her exit. Later, she appeared to receive the Video of the Year award. The Grammy winner has bagged three awards this year. She broke Beyoncé’s record as the most-awarded artist at the MTV VMAs.
