Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is Getting a Rerelease With New Footage — Report

Spider-Man: Brand New Day caused a storm at the box office, and it seems like Sony Pictures may be looking to capitalize further on the massive theatrical success. Word in the industry points to a planned theatrical re-release from the studio, packed with never-before-seen footage.

Sony plans a Spider-Man: Brand New Day theatrical rerelease with additional scenes, per a new report

The news follows Disney’s successful Avengers: Endgame Encore rerelease, which attracted huge numbers of fans. Avengers: Endgame runs for three hours and one minute. The new version added extra Avengers: Doomsday footage, with different bonus lengths in theaters.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already earned nearly $2.5 billion worldwide. The movie has become the highest-grossing movie of 2026. It is also currently the third-highest-grossing movie of all time.

According to Deadline, Sony’s rerelease will include at least one previously cut cameo. The additional footage is expected to connect the movie with the larger MCU. The reports state that cameo comes from Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, who is also known as Night Nurse.

Dawson previously played Claire Temple across several Netflix Marvel shows. Her credits include Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. Dawson previously revealed that she filmed a scene for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That scene was ultimately removed from the theatrical version.

However, the rerelease could contain more than just Dawson’s appearance. Deadline’s report reportedly teases more surprises in the extra footage. Sony could also use the rerelease to push the movie’s impressive box office total even higher.

Brand New Day has currently reached around $2.4 billion worldwide. That puts the movie about $389 million behind Avengers: Endgame. A successful rerelease could therefore help narrow that gap.

The movie has also become Sony’s highest-grossing movie ever. The rerelease strategy follows Disney’s recent Avengers: Endgame return. The latest Endgame release earned $86 million worldwide.

With Sony reportedly preparing additional footage, fans could soon have another reason to return to theaters.
