Donald Trump just sent Republicans a surprising warning about Bill Maher, and it comes with an unexpected confession. The president took to Truth Social early Monday morning to weigh in on the HBO host and his show, delivering a message with a twist few saw coming before turning his attention elsewhere.
Donald Trump criticized Bill Maher’s ratings before turning to Joe Scarborough and Morning Joe minutes later
President Donald Trump criticized HBO host Bill Maher on Truth Social early Monday morning. The post went up just before 8 a.m. “Bill Maher’s ratings are so low that it is hard to believe his show can continue,” Trump wrote. The post did not address the economy or the ongoing conflict in Iran.
Still, the president also offered Maher a single compliment in the same Truth Social post. “In many ways it’s SAD because, in actuality, I like him,” he wrote. He then turned on members of his own party. “Republicans should stop using him as a sounding board, however,” Trump continued. “It makes them look sooo weak and foolish!” Trump did not name any specific Republicans in the post.
Minutes later, Trump posted about “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough. “Joe Scarborough’s show has been cut way back, and will soon be ‘dead!'” Trump wrote. “Too predictable and boring! REALLY BAD RATINGS, just like the rest of MSNOW (MSDNC!).”
Trump currently has an ongoing dispute with MS NOW, the left-leaning network that airs Scarborough’s show. Meanwhile, Maher discussed Trump on Friday’s episode of his show “Real Time.” He mocked the president for giving Chinese leader Xi Jinping a tour of the White House last week. Maher argued that Xi “could give a f**k.”
However, Maher also praised Trump during the same episode, calling the president “a bada**.” He said Trump’s “fuck around and find out” energy has helped contribute to lowering crime rates. “He has UFC fights on the [White House] lawn,” Maher said. “I think the bad guys got the message.” Maher previously described Trump as “gracious and measured” after the two had dinner together. Trump’s posts did not specify what prompted his latest criticism of Maher on Monday.
