Prince William is back in the spotlight. His family has drawn fresh attention following the release of a new book about Princess Diana. The Prince of Wales has kept his focus on his public duties as interest in the book continues. The memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” looks back at Diana’s life, death, and funeral. It also includes claims about the royal family, some of which have drawn a response from Buckingham Palace.
Prince William’s hands ‘balled into a fist’ signaled tension at movie premiere event, expert claims
William attended the “Digger” premiere at the ActOne Cinema in London on September 22, where he appeared alongside his wife, Kate Middleton. Reporters also asked him about his uncle Earl Spencer’s memoir as he arrived, but the Prince of Wales did not respond.
Body language expert Judi James later pointed to a possible sign of tension in William’s hands. James told the Daily Express, “There’s some hint of tension showing in William’s hands that are nearly balled into fists, but that is easily outweighed by Kate’s obvious intention to show she’s having the best time here.” Kate appeared at ease as she accepted Tom Cruise’s hand while he helped her down the stairs.
James also praised Kate’s demeanor during the evening, saying, “Kate’s body language and facial expressions look radiant here and it’s the perfect event for her and William to use as their silent reply.”
One disputed account involves an alleged conversation between Spencer and then-Prince Charles over William and Harry walking behind Diana’s coffin. Spencer claims Charles later said, “We’ll forget her soon enough.” Buckingham Palace has disputed aspects of the account, while Spencer has stood by his version.
William was 15, and Harry was 12, when Diana died in 1997, and both princes later walked behind her coffin at her funeral. Decades later, the moment remains closely tied to their memories of their mother. William has yet to comment on Spencer’s latest account publicly.
