Thor Battles an Unexpected Avenger in Doomsday, Insider Claims

A new Marvel rumor claims that Thor will fight an unexpected Avenger in Doomsday. This rumor is provided by a trusted Marvel insider. The Avenger’s battle with the God of Thunder could lead to a major twist in the upcoming Avengers movie.

According to scooper James Mack via Patreon, Thor will reportedly battle a Doctor Strange variant named Boris in Avengers: Doomsday. Moreover, the insider said that Doctor Strange/Boris would serve as Doctor Doom’s sidekick. As a previous rumor alleged, Boris would wield a sling ring and appear as a wizard alongside Doom.

The report also claims that the reason behind Strange/Boris’ alliance with Doom would be revealed in the film’s third act. The insider’s scoop reported that Doctor Strange would reveal himself and his intentions during a conversation with Steve Rogers. In this conversation, Strange/Boris would explain everything to Rogers following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

That said, this is only a rumor and should be treated as such since Marvel has not confirmed these details yet.

Thor’s rumored opponent could add another twist to Avengers: Doomsday

Boris’ character holds significant importance to Doctor Doom, adding another twist to what is known about Avengers: Doomsday so far. In the comics, Boris is a loyal servant and confidant of Doctor Doom in Latveria. Moreover, he serves as a caretaker and advisor to Victor von Doom and has no supernatural abilities.

But since the report suggests that Doomsday’s Boris would wield the sling ring and wizard abilities, it means the character’s representation in the MCU would differ from the source material in the Marvel comics.

Additionally, among earlier rumors, there was a leaked image of Boris wearing a Latverian mask with a slot for a third eye. This leans heavily towards the end of the Multiverse of Madness movie, when Doctor Strange grew a third eye.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday features heroes from three distinct universes on a collision course. The heroes of these three universes, the X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four, must either fight one another to protect their own universes or work together to save all three.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
