Queen Camilla was present when King Charles met Prince Harry in July to add a “layer of protection” around the monarch. After Harry and Meghan Markle left Britain in 2020, many things were said during their Oprah interview and in his memoir, “Spare.” The couple’s way of publicly airing their grievances caused a deep rift between the Sussexes and the Royal Family. However, Harry has recently made it clear that he wants to reconcile with his family. During the reunion between the Sussexes and the King, Camilla was there for a reason.
Queen Camilla was present at King Charles and Prince Harry’s Highgrove meeting for a reason
Queen Camilla was present at the highly secret meeting between King Charles and Prince Harry. The Sussexes met the monarch on July 10 at Highgrove House. The details of the meeting were kept highly discreet, and even Prince William and Kate Middleton did not attend.
However, Camilla was present at the much-awaited reunion to provide moral support to the monarch. But there was one more reason why she accompanied Charles for the meeting. Camilla acted as a trusted witness during the discussions.
An insider told Woman’s Day that the Queen does not hesitate to face her critics. According to the source, her presence at the Highgrove meeting in July was considered “ingenious” by everyone at the Palace, including the Prince of Wales.
The source said, “She added a layer of protection around the King – while offering tea to the two people who’ve their world a nightmare. Any thaw in their relationship with the King has to include her in the room.”
Harry called Camilla a “dangerous” woman in his memoir, “Spare.” He wrote several other things that reportedly did not sit well with her or Charles. Hence, their relationship remains damaged and far from being repaired. Still, Camilla does not want to interfere with Charles spending time with his grandchildren.
However, she also does not want any negativity surrounding the King. Hence, while Charles would continue to see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, Camilla would remain present enough to prevent any “soap operas,” according to the source.
