Taylor Swift’s conversation with Tom Cruise at the Kansas City Chiefs’ first NFL game of the 2026 season has sparked plenty of online curiosity. A lipreader has now offered an interpretation of the exchange between the 36-year-old singer and the 64-year-old actor. However, parts of the conversation could not be deciphered clearly.
Lipreader decodes Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise’s chat at Chiefs game
Taylor Swift attended the Chiefs’ season opener at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, September 14. She watched the game from a suite and spent some time talking to Tom Cruise. Their unexpected conversation quickly caught fans’ attention as the two appeared deeply involved in their discussion.
Swift wore a red-and-white checkered top and relaxed with a drink while watching the game. She also appeared to be enjoying her return to the Chiefs crowd after a busy offseason. While Swift did not attend the Emmy Awards in person that night, she still featured during the ceremony in a skit that included her pet cat.
Nicola Hickling, a lipreader, studied footage of Swift and Cruise and shared her interpretation with the Irish Star. Hickling claimed Swift could be heard saying: “It’s the structure of the entire infrastructure of the audience that’s what I love in a positive way… so.” Some of Cruise’s comments were reportedly difficult to make out.
However, Hickling said she could interpret part of what he appeared to say. According to her reading, Cruise told Swift: “You may not know it, but you do have a job.” Swift then allegedly placed her drink down and nodded while saying, “Right.”
Hickling claimed Cruise continued speaking before saying: “I told her to stick to one and that it’s the last time.” Swift reportedly nodded again. Whatever the pair discussed, fans were thrilled to see Swift back supporting the Chiefs. The singer has become a familiar face around the team since she began dating Travis Kelce.
