It’s also the only charity the brothers support jointly, despite their strained relations.

Meghan Markle reportedly had grand plans of attending the now-canceled Princess Diana Awards Gala. The high-profile event was scheduled for September 18 at London’s Raffles Hotel. However, it was called off at the 11th hour after the Sussexes issued a statement on September 2. They stated that they were “not scheduled to attend.” This comes after reports had initially confirmed that the Duke of Sussex was to be a featured guest (via Radar Online).
Royal insider Tom Sykes revealed on the September 9 episode of The Royalist podcast that the Duchess of Sussex had plans ready for the awards gala. Sykes dished that Markle had been “very keen to go to the event,” adding that she was even reaching out to British designers to dress her.
Furthermore, the royal insider also claimed that Prince William allegedly did not want the Suits star’s presence at the gala awards. The future king did not want Markle to use his mother’s memory as her “relaunch pad” in the UK.
Interestingly, the Sussexes seem to have grand plans in store regarding the late Princess Diana. As per Rob Shuter, Harry is making a television film on the late Princess of Wales, covering her life and legacy. He is reportedly reaching out to his late mother’s friends and associates ahead of her 30th death anniversary in 2027.
Moreover, the Duchess of Sussex has reportedly been recruited to play an interesting part: narrator of the film. Royal sources have predicted that this will be “extremely difficult” for William. The Prince of Wales may not be keen on Markle being involved in his mother’s film.
