M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense is set to arrive on Netflix next month. According to What’s on Netflix, the acclaimed thriller will begin streaming on the platform on October 1, 2026.
Shyamalan wrote and directed The Sixth Sense, which opened in theaters on August 6, 1999. The film centers on a child whose unusual experiences lead to an unexpected connection with a psychologist. Malcolm Crowe, a well-known child psychologist, begins treating nine-year-old Cole Sear after the boy reveals that he can see dead people.
Cole’s ability has made him an outcast at school and left his mother, Lynn, struggling to understand his behavior. Malcolm initially doubts Cole’s claims, but as he continues working with him, he begins to realize that the boy may actually be communicating with the dead. At the same time, Malcolm’s focus on Cole creates tension in his relationship with his wife, Anna.
Bruce Willis plays Malcolm Crowe, while Haley Joel Osment portrays Cole Sear. The cast also includes Toni Collette as Lynn Sear, Olivia Williams as Anna Crowe, and Donnie Wahlberg as Vincent Grey. Meanwhile, Shyamalan appears as Dr. Hill in the film.
The Sixth Sense received positive reviews from critics. The film has an 86 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 168 reviews, while its audience score is 90 percent. Robin Holabird reported, “One of the rare horror films to earn an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, it remains a personal best for the director.”
