Meghan Markle has allegedly felt that King Charles hasn’t properly acknowledged her and Prince Harry’s return to the UK. A source claimed the Duchess of Sussex may feel her father-in-law is sending “mixed signals.” The monarch is reportedly happy to be near his grandchildren, but his actions suggest otherwise. Meghan and Harry returned to Britain with their children after leaving in 2020, with the “Suits” alum reportedly expecting a small royal welcome.
Meghan Markle thinks King Charles’ words don’t match with his actions, per source
Meghan Markle reportedly didn’t expect King Charles to fail to acknowledge Prince Harry’s return to the UK. A source told Closer that the mother of two believed the monarch was happy to be near his grandchildren. “From her perspective, they’re getting very mixed messages from Charles. On the one hand, they’ve been assured that he’s delighted they’re back, but they’re just not seeing that reflected in his actions,” the insider said.
It was reported that Meghan expected a small royal welcome. She seemingly thought the monarch would at least acknowledge his son and grandchildren’s return. However, she was allegedly disappointed when the king flew to Scotland around the same time. It was for the annual royal gathering at Balmoral, where almost all the royals gathered.
Furthermore, the insider noted that many people, including the Spencers, reached out to the Sussexes. They warmly welcomed them back to the UK. However, it was said that no one from the King’s circle made the effort.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan’s return raised questions about their royal status. It was previously reported that the Sussexes would stay at a private residence outside London. However, Charles reaffirmed their current status in a letter. It stated, “There is no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used.”
