King Charles reportedly timed his letter to Prince Harry so that it would affect his security meeting. For those unversed, as per multiple reports, the King issued a statement via top palace official, Lord Chamberlain, clarifying that the Sussexes are not working royals anymore.
Additionally, the letter stated that they would remain private citizens and not engage in royal engagements while they stayed in the UK. It is believed that the King issued a clarification specifically to impact Harry’s upcoming meeting regarding security arrangements.
Sources claim King Charles timed his letter around Prince Harry’s security timing
Sources attached to RadarOnline revealed that King Charles ordered Lord Chamberlain to release an official statement to influence Prince Harry’s security meeting. As per the Sussexes’ official representative, the couple was “surprised” by the King’s letter. Moreover, sources close to the Sussexes are worried that this official statement could affect their meeting with RAVEC.
An insider noted that it raises doubts as to why it was necessary to issue a letter before a crucial security meeting. Harry and Meghan’s royal status has been widely known ever since they relocated to California six years ago. Hence, the Sussexes are “questioning the timing.” The insider added, “Charles is being accused of timing this to come ahead of Harry’s RAVEC meeting.”
BBC royal correspondent Daniela Relph chimed in and stated that this does highlight the “discomfort and mistrust” between the royal family and the Sussexes. Moreover, RAVEC’s decision on whether Harry and Meghan deserve taxpayer-funded security remains ambiguous for now.
Interestingly, King Charles was reportedly furious upon learning that Harry informed the UK Home Office of his return to the UK before telling his father. As per RadarOnline, the Duke of Sussex informed authorities at the Home Office earlier this month to secure some kind of protection for himself and his wife and children.
As per a report by PEOPLE, the King was made aware of the Sussexes’ move back to Britain on August 16. Notably, this was ten days before they actually landed in the UK on August 26. A royal source told RadarOnline: “What angered him and made him furious was discovering that officials apparently knew something as significant as his son’s return before he did.”
