Shailene Woodley hints at reprising Jane Chapman in Season 3
Shailene Woodley is fueling Big Little Lies Season 3 rumors. She appeared to confirm the third season is happening. Woodley spoke about the project during an interview with E!. She was attending the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
The actress seemed excited about the ongoing rumors. “That’s what I hear. So, I’m going to continue throwing that rumor mill out there and feeding it. You know that it is happening.” The third season is based on another of Liane Moriarty’s stories.
Her upcoming book, Big Little Truths, will inspire Season 3. A few weeks ago, Moriarty also confirmed the project is moving forward. “The producers have read it. They said nice things,” she told E!. HBO has not officially announced the returning cast.
Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are expected back. However, Woodley’s return as Jane Chapman remains unconfirmed. She also hopes filming begins sooner rather than later. However, the television adaptation could significantly change the book.
The new story follows the Monterey women years later. It begins after Madeline celebrates her 50th birthday. Things quickly become disturbing for the group. A mysterious man also begins lurking around their school. He starts asking seemingly innocent questions.
The women are then forced to confront old secrets. Woodley’s return remains one major question for fans. Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Meryl Streep are also unconfirmed. Meanwhile, Woodley recently won her first Emmy for Paradise Season 2.
With Woodley riding high after her Emmy win, she is still teasing her possible return as Jane Chapman. For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation, but her comments have added more excitement around Big Little Lies Season 3.
