Prince William reportedly drew a firm line regarding Kate Middleton after Prince Harry’s public comments about his wife. While the Prince of Wales could tolerate criticism directed at him, an author claimed he was “not prepared” to let attacks on Middleton slide.
The claim has resurfaced following Harry’s return to the UK, putting the spotlight back on the strained relationship between the Waleses and Sussexes, old memoir revelations, and the lingering question of whether a reunion could ever happen.
Prince William ‘wasn’t prepared’ to let Prince Harry attack Kate Middleton, per author
As per HELLO! Magazine, royal commentator Robert Jobson discussed Prince William’s reported reaction to Prince Harry’s comments about Kate Middleton. While the Prince of Wales may have been able to accept criticism directed at him, Jobson suggested that comments about his wife crossed a different line.
Asked whether William could forgive Harry following his return to Britain, Jobson said, “I don’t think that went down too well.” The author of “The Windsor Legacy” also explained why Harry’s comments about Kate were particularly difficult for William to overlook. “I think he could take a lot of things being said about him,” the author said.
However, he added that William “wasn’t prepared” to hear similar things said about his wife. Jobson noted that the Princess of Wales was “not in a position to answer back,” with the report linking the comments to revelations in Harry’s 2023 memoir, “Spare.”
For context, HELLO! Magazine noted that Prince Harry described Kate as “the sister I’d always wanted” in his memoir. However, the account also detailed several tensions involving Kate after Meghan Markle entered Harry’s life in 2016.
Harry claimed Meghan was left “sobbing” following a disagreement over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. He also recounted the “baby brain” disagreement after Prince Louis’ birth and described a disagreement over lip gloss as a “small clash of styles.”
Despite the past tensions, Jobson suggested that Harry and Meghan’s current presence in the UK could create a new dynamic for the royal family. He described their return as creating “conflicting households on the same patch.”
However, he believes William and Kate are unlikely to engage in a “tit-for-tat,” suggesting they may feel they have “been down this road before.” Jobson summed up the potential situation by saying, “It creates a circus,” and predicted that the Prince and Princess of Wales would choose not to get involved.
