Prince Harry has announced his first public engagement in the UK, with the Duke of Sussex set to skydive in support of military charities. The upcoming challenge was reportedly inspired by a conversation with World War II veteran Ed Marshall last year. The outing comes after Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK on August 26 and reportedly settled at a non-royal base outside London.
Prince Harry will skydive with fellow veterans later this month for two Canadian military charities
According to the Sunnybrook Foundation, Prince Harry, along with fellow veterans, will skydive to raise money for two organizations committed to supporting Canada’s military and veteran communities: Sunnybrook and the True Patriot Love Foundation. The idea was inspired by 102-year-old World War II veteran Ed Marshall, whom the Duke of Sussex met in 2025.
Marshall served as a paratrooper during World War II and connected with Harry over their shared military experience and commitment to serving their communities. At the time, Marshall also shared his proudest achievement: his charity skydiving at his 100th birthday. Harry was kind of amazed by his brave efforts.
“The idea stuck, and together, they devised a plan for another jump,” the page revealed, referring to how this plan came into place. It is to be noted that with other fellow veterans, Marshall’s grandson Bailey will also be joining this good initiative. For those unfamiliar, Prince Harry served in the British military, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan as a forward air controller and Apache helicopter pilot.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK return has seemingly sparked plenty of discussion. Despite their return, the Sussexes remain private citizens, with no royal accommodation or taxpayer-funded security reportedly being provided to them.
The couple has also enrolled their two children in a private UK school, although the institution’s name remains under wraps. Their move back to Britain comes just over a month after their private reunion with King Charles.
