The exchange quickly turned into a playful back-and-forth on Luke Beasley’s podcast. Beasley kicked things off by joking about his own sexuality, prompting Hunter Biden to play along when the question was turned back on him.
When Beasley asked Biden outright if he was gay, Biden responded with the tongue-in-cheek answer, “Only a little bit.” The joke continued as Beasley tried to put an exact number on the answer, asking whether Biden considered himself above or below the 50% mark. Biden initially landed on 48.6%.
The joke took another turn when Beasley wondered whether he would actually fit Biden’s hypothetical taste. Biden played along, teasing that his imaginary type would be someone “a little bit more masculine.”
Later, Biden brought the subject back up himself, joking about what he called “the gay question.” Rather than sticking with his original number, he claimed the conversation had somehow lowered his made-up score by another percentage point, putting his tongue-in-cheek estimate at roughly 47%.
The running joke wasn’t quite done yet. Toward the end of the podcast, Biden circled back to the subject and told Beasley he had apparently worked his way back to “48.5 percent gay.” By then, the number had become part of the bit, with Biden repeatedly tweaking his imaginary percentage instead of treating the conversation as a serious declaration.
The 56-year-old Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, has been married twice. His first marriage was to Kathleen Buhle, whom he wed in 1993 before their relationship ended in 2017. He later married Melissa Cohen in 2019.
