The couple has reportedly spent much of their time at home since arriving last week. According to a friend, Meghan has concerns about taking seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet to their prep school, The Sun reported.
A fixed school schedule could create an additional security concern because regular drop-off and collection times would make the family’s movements easier to anticipate. “The school run is a tricky issue, and I understand they are nervous about it,” the friend said.
The couple’s return has renewed questions about Harry’s security arrangements in Britain. Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California. Since then, Harry has repeatedly raised concerns about bringing his family to the UK without appropriate protection.
Critics have questioned why the couple returned while their security arrangements remain unsettled. Harry reportedly gave the security committee less than two weeks’ notice, despite a 28-day notice requirement. The couple reportedly hopes to regain some taxpayer-funded protection, but officials have not confirmed any decision.
A Risk Management Board has reportedly assessed Harry’s threat level for the first time in seven years. It has now sent the assessment to Ravec, the independent body that decides security arrangements for royals and other VIPs.
Ravec will review the assessment before making a decision. However, officials have not given a timeline or confirmed what protection Harry could receive. A Government spokesperson declined to share details, saying that revealing security arrangements could put those involved at risk.
