Starz’s show Outlander has received a new trailer for its upcoming second season. The trailer sets the stage for the Jacobite Rising and the resulting conflict in the Scottish Highlands. It also follows the two couples at the center of the series, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, and Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.
The official synopsis reads, “From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland, two fated love stories must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways.”

The trailer previews the story set in 18th-century Scotland as the Jacobite Rising plunges the Highlands into conflict. Amid brutal battles, shifting loyalties, and clan politics, the two couples are separated and must fight to reunite.
In the new season, Brian and his cousin Murtagh must return to Castle Leathers and pledge to fight alongside Brian’s father, the scheming Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat. Meanwhile, Ellen reluctantly returns to Castle Leoch and devises a plan to protect Clan MacKenzie from the Crown.
The trailer also shows Henry and Julia Beauchamp. Julia is shown desperately trying to reunite with her husband and daughter. However, Henry is grappling with his own mental issues from the war.
Matthew B. Roberts serves as the showrunner for Outlander’s upcoming prequel series. The ensemble includes Jeremy Irvine, Hermione Corfield, Jamie Roy, Harriet Slater, Tony Curran, Séamus McLean Ross, Sam Retford, Rory Alexander, and Conor MacNeill.
Roberts also serves as an executive producer alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Michael Wilson, Jim Kohlberg, and Luke Parker Bowles. The Starz prequel series is based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series.
Outlander: Blood of my Blood is a prequel to Season 1. The first season focused on the love stories of Jamie’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, and Claire’s parents, Henry and Julia Beauchamp.
Season 2 of the prequel series premieres on Starz on Friday, September 18, 2026.
