Some of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s California neighbors may be welcoming the prospect of some peace and quiet. The timing comes as reports suggest the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are preparing to establish a base in the UK.
“When we first heard Harry and Meghan were moving to Montecito, there were definitely some concerns,” a local resident said in an exclusive interview with Page Six. “There had already been so much negative press and attention surrounding them and the royal family, and I think people worried about what kind of spotlight that could bring to such a quiet community.”
According to the insider, their neighbours are extremely pleased about the royal couple’s move back to the UK. “Montecito is a very private, peaceful place, and I think a lot of people here will be happy to see things go back to being a little quieter,” they explained.
The resident, however, emphasized that their comments represent only themselves and other locals they have spoken with. They do not speak for the entire Montecito community. But it appears to be a shared sentiment, with another neighbor telling Page Six, “Good riddance!”
The source alleged that numerous people welcome Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure. They claimed that the royal pair regularly requested extravagant favors from friends and acquaintances because of their titles. At the same time, they offered very little back to those individuals or to the wider Montecito community.
“The town is exhausted by them, the entitlement and the never-ending drama,” they further revealed. The Montecito local further noted that some community members have even nicknamed the couple the “Grift and Griftess of Sussex.”
