DC fans believe they may have spotted another character connected to Batman in the recently released first episode of Lanterns. Why DCU fans think Lanterns’ Sheriff Kerry is connected to Batman
Fans recently spotted a second character in Lanterns who might be related to Batman.
In Episode 1 of the series, fans meet Sheriff Kerry, played by Kelly MacDonald. In one scene, Kerry talks to a police commissioner on the phone and tells him, “Tell Barb I said hey.” This has led some fans to wonder whether Kerry was talking to Gotham Commissioner Gordon and referring to his daughter, whose name is Barbara and notably becomes Batgirl. Barbara is also the name of Gordon’s wife in the comics.
Meanwhile, a user named Caverna do Morcego shared on X that Kerry’s full name is Kerry Kane. This raises suspicions that Kerry might be related to Gotham’s Kane family, one of the city’s most influential. The user further stated, “Bruce Wayne/Batman’s mother was a Kane… plus, we have Bruce’s cousin, Kate Kane, who in the comics is Batwoman.”
They also mentioned that Kerry’s last name could be a tribute to Bob Kane, Batman’s co-creator.
In another tweet, the user wrote, “Kane can also be a tribute to the creator of Green Lantern. But since we have the possibility of her coming from Gotham, that’s why the association with the Batman universe.”
Gil Kane is the name of one of the creators of Green Lantern. However, these are just theories, and fans are eager to know more about the character as the series progresses. This association dropped after fans previously noticed an advertisement in the episode that seemingly nods to the Batman villain Black Mask.
