The fifth and final season of Outer Banks premiered on Netflix on August 20, 2026. All ten episodes of the series finale have been released at once, revealing the final fate of the Pogues and whether they get the coveted Royal Merchant gold.
Created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, Outer Banks first premiered in 2020. The show is set in the Outer Banks, North Carolina, and follows the clash between the working-class locals, nicknamed “Pogues,” and the wealthy residents called “Kooks.” The Pogues learn about a legendary treasure tied to the missing father of the group’s leader, John B. Amid their struggles with the Kooks, the teenagers grapple with unexpected threats and other obstacles.

Their mission is to avenge their friend and reclaim their future once and for all.
The show’s creators Shannon Burke, Josh Pate, and Jonas Pate had previously teased the ending following the premiere of Season 3. “We’ve always known from the beginning what the last scene would be, if we would be lucky enough to get it that far,” Josh Pate told Tudum at the time. Burke then added that there would be “a lot of dark, blank space” before reaching that final moment.
