Upcoming comedy film from Jury Duty director starring Cameron Diaz gets first look and release date. The 2026 film will have Diaz playing the role of a single mother trying to figure out the worst day of her life.

Bad Day, directed by Jake Szymanski, will be premiering on December 11, 2026, on Netflix. Alongside announcing the release date for the project, the production has also dropped the first-look images for the upcoming Netflix ‘mom-com’ film.

The synopsis of the Cameron Diaz-led movie, per IMDb, reads, “A single mother struggles to fulfill a small promise to her daughter during the most devastating day she’s ever faced.”

This project will be bringing together producer Beau Bauman and Cameron Diaz again after their successful collaboration in Back in Action. The 2025 action comedy film was released on Netflix on January 17, 2025. Although Back in Action got just a 31% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the film was placed sixth on Netflix’s most popular list. The movie spent seven consecutive weeks on the Global Top 10 movies list.

While Diaz would portray the lead role, the cast for the film also features Danielle Brooks, Rhenzy Feliz, John Higgins, Mark Duplass, Jessica Belkin, Ed O’Neill, Rob Corddry, Ayden Mayeri, Ben Schwartz, Retta, Emma Pearson, P.J. Byrne, Sherry Cola, Edi Patterson, and Beck Bennett.

Bad Day is produced by Beau Bauman’s Good One Productions. Mark Moran is the executive producer for the project. Bad Day has been written by Laura Solon, who is also the executive producer for the film alongside Moran. Jeremy Mittleman is the co-producer of the film. The film is writer Laura Solon and producer Beau Bauman’s third collaboration, as they previously worked together on Let It Snow and Office Christmas Party, per Tudum by Netflix.
