Princess Eugenie has reportedly hurt her mother, Sarah Ferguson, after choosing not to include the name Sarah in her daughter’s name. Eugenie welcomed her first daughter two weeks ago and shared the happy news with her followers on social media, posting a heartwarming photo of the newborn with her older sons, August and Ernest.
In the announcement, the royal revealed that her baby girl is named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, explaining that the name was inspired by three people the family “love and admire.” However, the omission of Ferguson’s name has reportedly left the Duchess of York feeling hurt by what has been described as a “glaring” snub.

Sarah Ferguson is reportedly hurt over what has been described as a “glaring” snub by her daughter, Princess Eugenie. For the unversed, Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their daughter on August 3, 2026, and shared the happy news with the world two weeks later.
The royal posted a heartwarming photo of the newborn alongside her two sons, August and Ernest, while also revealing her daughter’s name: Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Eugenie explained that the name was chosen in honor of three people the family loves and admires, including her great-grandmother.
“Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home,” the caption read. However, the omission of the name “Sarah” reportedly did not go unnoticed. A royal insider told New Idea that Adelaide has always held a special place in Eugenie’s heart. In fact, Eugenie wore her diamond earrings as hair ornaments when she married Jack Brooksbank, further highlighting her connection to the name.
Meanwhile, Annina was reportedly chosen in honor of one of Eugenie’s best friends. The expert added, “Of course Elizabeth was always going to be one of her baby girl’s names, but the glaring omissions are, of course, ‘Sarah’ or ‘Margaret’.”
The insider claimed that Sarah had tried her best not to feel upset even when Princess Beatrice chose not to use her name for her children. The choice is particularly striking given that Eugenie previously honored Ferguson’s late father, Major Ronald Ferguson, by giving her son Ernest the middle name “Ronnie.”
However, amid the controversy surrounding her husband, ex-Prince Andrew, Ferguson reportedly “wouldn’t dare to even expect Eugenie to honour her in this way.” Even so, the omission is reportedly still painful for Ferguson, as none of her daughters’ children carry her name.
