MCU star Kathryn Newton‘s upcoming series has reportedly shifted from Amazon to Hulu for development. The project is a TV adaptation of a popular series of young-adult novels.
Kathryn Newton’s Just One Day series now in development at Hulu
Just One Day, a TV show based on Gayle Forman’s book series of the same name, is now in development at Hulu, according to a report from Deadline. Originally, the project was in the works at Amazon under the deal that executive producer Patrick Moran made through his company PKM Productions’ first-look agreement.
Sherri Cooper-Landsman and Jennifer Levin, the team that previously developed Beauty & the Beast, a remake of the 80s’ CBS series Beauty and the Beast, for The CW, boarded Just One Day as writers. While the project didn’t progress at Amazon, the same writers are reportedly still involved in its redevelopment at Hulu. Cooper-Landman, Levin, and Forman are executive producing the series with Anna Mastro.
Reports about the project first began circulating in April 2025, with Newton attached as both a star and producer. Notably, Newton played Cassandra “Cassie” Lang in the MCU film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and will reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday. She is also known for popular roles in projects like Supernatural, Gary Unmarried, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, and Paranormal Activity 4. She recently starred in the survival thriller The Devil’s Mouth.
Forman’s book series currently comprises two novels and a follow-up novella. The first book, Just One Day, came out in 2013, followed by Just One Year a few months later. The novella Just One Night debuted a year later. The plot revolves around Allyson Healey, who will be played by Newton. Though her life mirrors the tidiness of her suitcase, things take an unexpected turn when she encounters Willem, an actor who approaches life in a way that is opposite to her own.
Just One Day currently does not yet have a release date.
