Jon Lovitz did not like being repeatedly cast as a ‘pervert’ in Adam Sandler‘s movies. They have worked together on several movies. However, the American actor could not help but notice that he was repeatedly being asked to portray a particular type of character.
Lovitz recently confronted Sandler about the issue during an appearance on The Tonight Show. The 69-year-old comedian said, “And I’m always playing a pervert. And I said, ‘Adam, why are you always casting me as a pervert?'”
Fallon then tried to prove him wrong. Lovitz, however, appeared to have come prepared. He rattled off several examples and said, “Wedding Singer’ was sleaze-bag, ‘Little Nicky,’ I’m peeping Tom. ‘Grown Ups 2,’ I’m a janitor that takes over a gym class with women, and then get them to do all these, you know, sexual exercises.”
Lovitz recalled how Sandler reacted when he questioned the repeated character types
The 69-year-old actor went on to explain how Sandler reacted when he confronted him. Mimicking Sandler, Lovitz said, “Yeah, I think it’s funny!” Despite the American comedian’s complaints, Fallon tried to prove that his character in The Wedding Singer was not a pervert. Lovitz, however, remained unconvinced.
Despite the back-and-forth, Lovitz and Sandler’s friendship remains strong. In fact, the American comedian and actor’s upcoming movie will be produced by Sandler. Titled Don’t Say Good Luck, the upcoming movie stars Sandler’s daughter, Sunny. Elaborating further on their friendship, the High School High actor recalled how the two of them first crossed paths at a stand-up gig.
Expressing his honest opinions about Sandler, Lovitz stated, “He’s the best. You’re nice to him once, and he’s just nice to you the rest of your life.”
Lovitz’s upcoming movie, Don’t Say Good Luck, is scheduled for release on August 14, 2026.
