The White House shared an AI video on Monday that reimagines its grounds as a medieval stronghold, complete with the Oval Office’s Resolute Desk transforming into an iron throne. It’s the latest addition to the bandwagon of using popular IP, currently Game of Thrones‘ spin-off House of the Dragon.
White House posts Game of Thrones-style AI video
The White House posted the clip across its official social media channels, timing the release to coincide with the Season 3 finale of HBO’s House of the Dragon. The video opens with a three-dimensional, mechanical-style map that directly mimics the title sequence of Game of Thrones.
It guides viewers through digital reconstructions of Washington D.C. restoration projects Trump has championed: Meridian Hill Park’s cascading fountain, the Dupont Circle fountain, and the plaza beside Union Station all appear as intricate moving models. The HBO series’ original theme music plays unaltered throughout the clip.
The sequence ends inside a medieval version of the Oval Office, where the Resolute Desk morphs into a throne emblazoned with two American flags. The White House captioned the post: “THE CAPITAL: RESTORED. Order restored. The capital reclaimed.”
This latest post extends a pattern of royal self-styling from Trump. On Sunday evening, his Truth Social account featured a digital flag bearing the words “King Trump,” a post that reignited speculation about an unconstitutional third-term run in 2028. The AI throne clip pushes that scenario further, depicting him not merely as a leader but as a sovereign figure seated above democratic symbols.
HBO has not yet responded publicly to White House’s post. However, the situation echoes a 2018 clash between Trump and HBO, when his administration used a Game of Thrones-inspired poster to announce renewed sanctions on Iran.
HBO objected immediately. Chris Spadaccini, then the network’s executive vice president of marketing, later told Variety, “Our attitude was we don’t really like our IP to be used for political purposes.”
Game of Thrones video also fits a broader White House strategy of co-opting IP for political messaging. They recently also used The Spider-Man Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday to message around ICE and MAHA initiative.
