Donald Trump recently claimed that he is the greatest ever President. However, he soon got a reality check during an interview with Jake Sherman from Punchbowl News. Moreover, in the interview, the President also addressed the current state of his approval ratings and voters’ frustration ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Jake Sherman pushes back on Donald Trump’s claims
Donald Trump was recently shut down mid-interview after he claimed he was the “greatest President” while speaking to Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News.
During the interview, Sherman asked Trump about the possibility of Democrats impeaching him if they win the 2026 midterm elections. Trump began his answer with the statement, “Well, a lot of people are saying I’m one of the greatest presidents ever.” However, he was stopped midway when Sherman, referring to the Democrats, brutally rejected his claim, saying, “They’re not saying that, though.”
Trump awkwardly seemed to agree with Sherman, but immediately stated, “But they (Democrats) know—they see the results.”
As the 2026 midterms draw closer, many people have speculated that the Democrats might try to impeach Trump over his actions in the second term if they win. However, according to a Reuters report, Democrats appear to be seeking to use the House’s investigative powers. According to the reports, the aim is to determine whether Trump ultimately used presidential powers for his own benefit.
A senior Democrat told the outlet, “We’re not going into this to impeach. No one wants a failed vote on day one. The focus is on building a body of evidence through investigations that can hold Trump accountable.”
On the other hand, Trump commented on voters’ frustration ahead of the midterms and blamed other Republicans for it. This comes after numerous reports in the past months have shown a decline in his approval rating. He said, “The question is, will they vote? They’re angry at Republicans, but they’re not angry at me.”
