A close friend of Meghan Markle offered a rare look at how the Duchess of Sussex celebrated her birthday. Markle turned 45 on Tuesday and gave fans a peek at her day by sharing new photos and videos. Her update highlighted family time, while her friend’s post showed her celebrating with friends.
Tracy Robbins, a designer and Meghan Markle’s Montecito neighbor, posted a birthday collage to her Instagram Stories. It showed off a Mahjong-themed cake and a round of Mahjong. PEOPLE magazine first picked up the photos, which included the “Suits” alum blowing out candles, a shot of the cake, and the pair playing the game together. Robbins also shared a message that read, “Happy birthday to my partner in crime. Love doing life with you one bam bird at a time. Love you @meghan.”
The As Ever founder has spoken before about her fondness for game nights and Mahjong on her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. In Season 1, Episode 6, she welcomes three friends, Robbins, Victoria Jackson, and Jennifer, for an evening of games. “My girlfriends are coming over, we have all started to learn Mahjong together in the past few months. We play a version called American Mahjong,” Markle said.

For those curious, Meghan Markle didn’t get a public birthday message from the royal family on social media because official greetings are only given to working members of the monarchy. After stepping down as senior working royals in 2020, the Sussexes are treated like private citizens when it comes to official announcements.
