Anna Williamson reveals her first meet with King Charles and the risotto incident.
On Joe Marler’s podcast, Anna Williamson shared how she sprayed pea risotto on King Charles in their first meeting. She was asked about an embarrassing celebrity encounter, and Williamson replied, “One of them that springs to mind involves our monarch, the King.”
The presenter continued, “You can do a variety of things that are respectful.” However, she “did all of them at one go: a curtsey, a bow, a handshake,” while enjoying a finger bowl of risotto. This move eventually turned things upside down for her.
The 45-year-old revealed she “fell forward with the risotto, spat the risotto in King Charles’s face.” Further, she “curtsied but stumbled on the paving slab.” Williamson confessed that she “fell into him so he had to push” her back again.
“I stumbled mid-curtsy because I just committed to all of it and fell into him and had to be pulled off him,” she explained. However, Williamson was surprised at everyone’s calm reaction following the incident. “Actually, everyone was quite chilled,” she said.
Moreover, she shared that her friends found the incident hilarious. Williamson also shared that the monarch helped her to get a grip before the latter’s security could react. “It was how I broke the ice with the King,” the showbiz presenter stated. She found the meeting with the monarch a “unique” way of getting introduced.
King Charles has gracefully dealt with embarrassing incidents in the past. In May of this year, he faced an awkward situation while greeting people outside the Newcastle Community Cinema. A seagull pooped on the back of the monarch’s jacket.
However, the 77-year-old laughed it off and continued shaking hands with well-wishers instead of immediately changing his jacket. “At least it didn’t land on my head!” he joked.
