Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has dismissed “dad body” criticism of Travis Kelce. With the NFL team back for training camp ahead of Kelce’s 14th season, Reid handled a question about whether the Chiefs tight end was out of shape following his July nuptials with Taylor Swift.
“I know you were in New York City for Travis Kelce’s wedding with Taylor Swift — I know you probably had a ball there — but now that you’re back here on the field again, what do you like from what you’ve seen from him?” Jeffri Chadiha of NFL Network asked.
In response, Reid highlighted Kelce’s strong performance and brushed off the “dad body” chatter. His comments appeared to address a viral AI-generated clip that suggested the 36-year-old had put on weight, per Entertainment Weekly.
“Well, he came back in good shape. I know everybody’s out there saying he’s got the ‘dad body’ and all this stuff, but he looks the same to me that he’s always looked,” noted the coach. The 68-year-old further revealed that Kelce has been “just playing like crazy” and “doing a nice job with everything” since training camp kicked off in late July.
Reid added, “He’s focused in and ready to go, and I appreciate that.” He went on to say that the football pro has “been here 14 years and wants to be out there every snap.” He wrapped up by saying that Travis Kelce is going to play tough and won’t let anything slow him down.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2026-2027 preseason slate includes games against the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Seattle Seahawks. The team will host the Denver Broncos to start the regular season on Monday, September 14 at Arrowhead Stadium.
