Meghan Markle’s birthday coincides with Prince William’s christening ceremony. The Duchess of Sussex celebrates her birthday on August 4, the same date William was christened in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace. The day also holds special significance for the royal family, as it marks the birthday of the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon.
Why August 4 matters to Meghan Markle and Prince William, claims report
Meghan Markle’s birthday falls on the same date as Prince William’s christening. According to a report by the Daily Express, sources told HELLO! that the Duchess of Sussex plans to celebrate her birthday in the most laid-back way possible. She simply wants to be surrounded by her loved ones as she marks her birthday on August 4.
The day is not just special for the Duchess but also for William. It was on the same date in 1982 that he was christened in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace. The then Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, conducted the ceremony.
Robert Jobson, author of “Catherine: The Princess of Wales,” detailed the ceremony in his book. He mentioned that a large crowd had gathered outside Buckingham Palace on the day of the christening. The Queen Mother appeared on the balcony before the ceremony. Although the christening itself was private, royal well-wishers gathered outside the palace and eagerly awaited a glimpse of the royal family. Jobson further wrote that renowned photographer Jason Bell captured photographs at Clarence House.
August 4 holds another significance for the British monarchy, as it is also the birthday of the Queen Mother. As for Markle, last year, she celebrated her birthday in a laid-back setting. She marked the special occasion with an intimate family gathering and later enjoyed dinner at Funke in Beverly Hills. She later shared a photo featuring herself blowing out candles on a cake decorated with beautiful flowers.
