Amy Pascal just dropped a major hint about when fans will finally learn who the next James Bond is. The veteran producer shared a timeline update on the franchise’s casting search during a recent interview with Deadline.
Amy Pascal says next James Bond news could come by year’s end
Producer Amy Pascal told Deadline that fans could expect Bond casting news by late 2026. Pascal and David Heyman officially joined the franchise after Amazon MGM announced their selection in March 2025. She described the team’s approach as deliberate and careful in finding Daniel Craig’s successor.
“I would say the end of the year is a good bet,” Pascal said during her Deadline interview. She acknowledged the challenge of following Craig’s acclaimed tenure as the iconic spy. “Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow,” she added about the casting process.
Pascal also emphasized that the next Bond film needs a fresh creative direction. “And it’s got to be something really different that is stirring and exciting and different,” she stated. Her comments suggest the franchise will undergo a significant creative overhaul under new leadership.
Amazon MGM Studios gained full creative control of the 007 franchise in February 2025. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepped back from producing duties at that time. They still remain co-owners of the long-running spy series despite their reduced roles.
The Bond franchise has produced 25 official Eon Productions films since Dr. No debuted in 1962. The series has earned a combined gross of $7.8 billion at the worldwide box office. No Time to Die, Craig’s final outing, grossed $771.2 million globally upon its September 2021 release.
Pascal brings substantial blockbuster experience to the franchise through her Spider-Man work. Her latest effort, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, recently broke the all-time domestic opening weekend record. The film earned $360 million in its debut, surpassing the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame.
