Lindsay Lohan’s Parent Trap Twins Make a Surprise Return Nearly 30 Years Later

Lindsay Lohan has revived the twins from the 1998 film The Parent Trap in a new commercial. The film is a remake of the original The Parent Trap, released in 1961. It featured Lohan in a dual role alongside Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson, Elaine Hendrix, and others.

Lindsay Lohan recently appeared in a commercial for Reese’s Oreo, a collaboration between Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Oreo. For the ad, the actress brought back the iconic twins she played in The Parent Trap.

The ad, titled Two Fated Icons, showcases Lohan’s twins running a camp called Reese’s Twins Retreat. They welcome a new pair of twins, played by Amy Sedaris. The blonde Lohan says, “Sometimes our differences can come together in unexpected ways,” before bringing their Oreo and Reese’s necklaces together. In response, the two Amy twins protest, saying that Oreo and Reese’s don’t belong together.

The scene then shifts to the Amy twins fighting over a jar of peanut butter when Lohan’s red-haired twin makes an entrance. She assures them that she has found a solution to their conflict and invites them to try Reese’s Oreo Cups.

According to Entertainment Weekly, while Lohan’s dual role in the ad appears to reference The Parent Trap, there has been no official confirmation from the film’s rights holders.

The actress also recently spoke with Parade about her memories of the film. She told the outlet, “It means so much. It was, you know, my first movie audition, my first film, and it holds such an important place in my heart. It’s just such a lovely family movie, and Nancy Meyers has such a beautiful way of doing that in her films.”
