Netflix subscribers will soon be able to stream Sydney Sweeney’s horror film Immaculate. According to What’s on Netflix, the movie is slated to arrive on the platform on August 13, 2026. Released in U.S. theaters on March 22, 2024, Immaculate is a psychological horror film directed by Michael Mohan from a screenplay by Andrew Lobel.
The film centers on Cecilia, a devout American novice who believes surviving a childhood accident in which she spent seven minutes beneath a frozen lake was a sign of divine intervention. After relocating to a remote convent in the Italian countryside at the invitation of Father Sal Tedeschi, she begins a new chapter of religious life.
However, her circumstances take a shocking turn when she is found to be pregnant despite being a virgin. Soon, Cecilia is troubled by recurring nightmares and grows increasingly suspicious after being prevented from seeking medical care. As she searches for answers, she uncovers the shocking truth about the convent.
Sweeney leads the cast as Sister Cecilia, alongside Álvaro Morte as Father Sal Tedeschi. Other cast members include Dora Romano as the Mother Superior, Benedetta Porcaroli as Sister Gwen, Giorgio Colangeli as Cardinal Franco Merola, and Simona Tabasco as Sister Mary.
Immaculate received a generally positive response from critics, earning a 71 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 213 reviews. Meanwhile, audience response was more divided, with the film holding a 58 percent score on the platform.
