Prince William is still reportedly “very angry” with his brother Prince Harry as the estranged brothers continue to maintain distance from one another. As per a royal author, the Prince of Wales is not in favour of their father, King Charles, spending any time with the Sussexes. Previously, the Waleses were absent during the Sussexes’ private meeting with the king and Queen Camilla at the monarch’s Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
A major royal family member reportedly finds it hard to ‘overlook’ Prince Harry’s actions
According to royal author Pauline Maclaran, Prince William is still upset with Prince Harry. The Prince of Wales is said to be “protecting the monarchy” as Harry’s past behaviour has reportedly brought considerable embarrassment to the royal family.
Express US asked Maclaran whether William was simply fulfilling his duty as the future heir to the throne or holding a long-standing grudge against his brother. The author suggested it is “likely to be a mixture of both,” and explained, “William probably feels he is protecting the monarchy from being further disrespected or monetized by the couple for their own ends. However, there are bound to be personal issues too and a lack of trust in his brother.”
The comments come after the Duke of Sussex reportedly made some progress with King Charles and even arranged a private meeting for the monarch to meet his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and Meghan Markle. Harry has also reportedly received an invite to stay at Buckingham Palace in September, but William remains unfazed by this.
Maclaran predicted that the rift between the brothers has widened to the extent that it may affect the next generation of royals, meaning William and Harry’s children. The royal author said, “William, being the brother who has to shoulder the future responsibility of the monarchy, is understandably alleged to still be very angry with his younger sibling. These accusations also implicated Catherine in various ways and I imagine that William finds that very hard to overlook.”
